展覧会「Drawing an ambiguity —あいまいさを描く—」は、2018年にリトアニア・ニダにあるアーティスト・イン・レジデンスNida Art Colonyに滞在した２人のアーティスト、山口貴子（2018年2月滞在）と山田悠（同年4月滞在）の展覧会です。
２人が１ヶ月間の滞在で行った実験的成果は、HAGISOの空間と呼応する新たな形態の作品として再制作・発表されます。

ニダの位置するクルシュー砂州は、岩石や岩屑で出来た小さな島々が、バルト海の波によって運ばれた砂によって繋がり、現在のような細長く湾曲した砂州となったと言われています。砂浜に打ち寄せる波の連なりや、風によって日々形状を変える砂丘の稜線、また本土までの長い一本道や、複雑な手続きを経ないと越えることの出来ない国境。
この場所で、私たち2人は必然的に「線を描く」ことについて考えさせられました。
造形行為である「線を描く」ことを切り口とし、2人のアーティストの描いた―もしくは描くことが出来なかった― 線を通して、私たちの生きている世界の輪郭と、そのあいまいさについて問いかけます。

山口貴子
1978年三重県生まれ。
2001年名古屋芸術大学美術学部洋画コース卒業。
2011年Cite international des Arts（パリ）、2015年Viborg Kunsthal（ヴィボー）、2016年カムデンアーツセンター&スレイドスクール大学（ロンドン）などでアーティスト・イン・レジデンスを行う。
中之条ビエンナーレ2013、2015、2017（群馬）に参加。

山田悠
1986年神奈川県生まれ。
2009年武蔵野美術大学造形学部油絵学科卒業後、ディジョン国立高等美術学校で、2012年に空間デザイン （DNAP）、2014年にアート（DNSEP）過程を修了。
2015年Prix Dauphine pour l’art contemporainグランプリ。
2016年ゲンビどこでも企画公募（広島市現代美術館）入選。

喜多村徹雄
1976年奈良県生まれ。2005年金沢美術工芸大学大学院博士後期課程美術研究領域（油画）修了。
大学での美術教育に携わった後、社会におけるアートの機能に興味を持つ。 天山アートフェスタ（2016年、佐賀）、「群馬の美術2017─地域社会における現代美術の居場所」（2017年、群馬立近代美術館）などに参加。
美術教育についての論文を多数発表し、また中学校美術教科書の著者の一人でもある。
2018年4月から9月までリトアニアの首都ビリニュスに滞在し、Užupis Art Incubatorでの個展と、2つのグループ展を開催。

Takako Yamaguchi, Haruka Yamada
Drawing an ambiguity

“Drawing an ambiguity” is an art exhibition of two artists stayedartists stayed at Nida Art Colony in Nida in 2018: Takako Yamaguchi (stayed in February 2018) and Haruka Yamada (stayed in April 2018). Experimental artworks of two artists during their stays in Nida will be shown in the exhibition as a new form of work after re-thinking and re-production in response to the space of HAGISO.

Curonian Spit where Nida situates was formed about 3rd millennium BC. A glacial moraine served as its foundation; winds and sea currents later contributed enough sand to raise and keep the formation above sea level. Waves casted on a long sandy beach, ridgelines of sand dune that change the shape every day by the wind, a long road to the mainland, a border that can not be crossed without complicated procedures… this place inevitably made two artists think about “drawing”. Through lines that two artists draw – or could not be drawn -, the exhibition illuminates the outline of our living world and asks about its ambiguity.

Takako Yamaguchi
Born in Mie Prefecture in 1978, lives in Gunma Prefecture. Graduated from Nagoya University of Arts, B.A. (Fine art / panting) in 2001.
Participated in many international artist-in-residency programs like Cite international des Arts (Paris, 2011), Viborg Kunsthal (Viborg, 2015), Camden Arts Centre & the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL (London, 2016).
Participated in Nakanojo Biennale 2013, 2015 and 2015.

Haruka Yamada
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1986, lives in Tokyo. After graduating from Musashino Art University in Tokyo, studied and graduated from Art and Space Design at National School of Art and Design in Dijon, in France between 2010 and 2014.
Grand Prize for Prix Dauphine pour l’art contemporain in 2015. Winner for Dokodemo Open Call (Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art) in 2016.

Tetsuo Kitamura
Artist, Associate professor in Gunma University (Faculty of Education)
Born in Nara Prefecture in 1976, lives in Gunma. Ph. D., Art in Kanazawa College of Art in 2005. After being engaged in the art education at the University, he is interested in function of art in society. Participated in “Tenzan Art-Fest”, (Saga, 2016), “Contemporary Art in Gunma 2017” (The Museum of Modern Art, Gunma, 2017) etc. Wrote some thesis on art education, one of the authors of the textbooks of art for junior high school as well. Stayed in Vilnius from April till September 2018, and held solo exhibition at Užupis Art Incubator, and two group exhibitions.
